Geese

Heavy crop of flock of at least 65 geese sp. heading SSE into strong sunlight. Im thinking they're barnacles, am i right and aren't they rare in these parts?

Hi Gearge,i would say these are Barnacles,by the white face and black breast band.There seems to be a glut of records in Linc's at the moment and these may be wild birds,but as previously mentioned in the sightings section of the forum,they may have originated from a large feral population in the north of the county at Whitton Sand on the Humber.

With all the Barnacles seen in Lincolnshire this month, some MUST be wild birds....

There were 500 on Whitton Sand in November and none now so add up all the flocks and if they exceed 500 then those are the wild ones!

If you are a "beginner", but keen to become actively involved in birding, you will find that learning about your county's wild birds - how, when and where to see them - is both easier and more enjoyable when undertaken in the company of our local enthusiasts.
