Butterfly numbers have dropped sharply over the past week, but a good hatch of common blues of which 20% are the brown form looking very similar to brown argus, vis mig today included, a green woodpecker, the first iv,e seen hear for 15 years, flocks of 40 to 70 lapwing coming in, a flock of c 500 mixed swallows and house martins, a single swift, single pied fly and single wheatear, and single merlin. John Clarkson and I also had a Green Woodpecker near the car park at Rimac last Thursday and a female Merlin over the saltmarsh. |
