I noticed the dog sniffing at something in the hall this morning and discovered a huge beetle, which I put outside into a large plant pot. It scuttled half way round the pot and then proceeded to, very quickly, bury itself. I later found out it was a Nicrophorus humator, or burying beetle. It's a new one for me. Are they particularly common, does anyone know? Libby. |
