Hi Brian from Kirton Lindsey logging in for the first time. I have been bird watching for a number of years, being a long standing RSPB member, I also belong the Lincs Wildlife Trust. My local patch tends to be around North Lincolnshire, Alkborough Flats, Far Ings and Messingham Sand Quarries with occasional visits to the East Coast sites, this normally weekends away in the caravan. I have been logging on as a guest for some months now and find the forum a great way of learning whats about. My birding skills are very limited, but I enjoy being out and about and the thrill of seeing a new species excites me greatly. Highlights over the last year have been watching Osprey fishing at the mouth of the river Spey, seeing my first Smew at Dungerness and finding Goldcrest and Snipe at MSQ. Hopefully 2009 will see me thrilled by finding something new. Despite spending hours searching at Blacktoft, Far Ings and Tichwell, I have yet to find a Bearded Tit, the search will go on. Brian |

Hi Brian, Bearded Tits are seen at far ings although I have never seen one, i have often walked into a hide and someone has told me that a Bearded Tit has just flown over or, the best one, you have just missed the Bearded Tits by about two minutes. Blacktoff sands are supposed to have Bearded Tits seen regularly. Matt |

Welcome Brian and Malcolm. If you would like a good chance to see Bearded Tit at Far Ings, there is a bird walk on tomorrow (sun) at 10am from the New Visitor Centre. They are being seen quite regularly at the moment M&M |

I wonder how many "Yellow Bellies"there are on the Forum? The old saying of "Lincolnshire born, Lincolnshire bred, strong in the arm and weak in the head" may well be applicable in the case of some of the regular contributors!! I may well fall in the category being a Spilsbian by birth. |

Yellow Belly here - born in Grimsby and still living in the town after 35 years (I don't know about being weak in the head, more likely certifies me as insane! ) regards Chris |

I think there are more YORKIES on here than Yellow Bellies... Stuart, When you quoted the saying about weak in the head etc I take it your refering to yourself For myself the saying should be weak in the arm and strong in the head I've lived in Scunny 60 years, crikey is it as long as that And before Ed or Freddy say anything I realise I've got a long way before I join the Silver Brigade Max |
