annual trip for black grouse today with 2 Grimbarians and 2 Derbyshire lads this despite the fog which cleared gradually resulted in a record count of 110 birds. this beat our previous count by 35 birds. unfortunately cannot tell you the precise split between blackcocks and greyhen because dave has took the list back to Derbyshire
but roughly 1 in 3 was a male. one point that concerns me is that practically every field had a dead rabbit in it, hope this is not poisoned bait for predators of any description. this is the 15th year we have done this trip. happy days
