A holiday to Dorset this weekend produced the following: RSPB Radipole Lake, Weymouth 2 Marsh Harrier 3 Bearded Tit 5 Grey Heron 9 Little Egret 10 Tufted Duck 4 Great Crested Grebe 1 Little Grebe 10 Cormorant Loads Mallard Loads hirundines 3 Reed warbler 4 Sedge Warbler Possible Yellow-legged Gull RSPB Lodmoor 50 Common Tern 10 Sandwich Tern 10 Avocet 1 Dunlin 15 Oystercatcher 2 Grey Heron (mis-identified by 2 others as Common Crane) 1 Buzzard 5 Goldfinch 1 House Sparrow eating a worm 2 Reed Warbler 1 Willow Warbler 3 Reed Bunting Hengistbury Head, Bournemouth 1 pair Linnet 1 Stonechat 2 Meadow Pipit 2 Skylark Plenty of hirundines 30 Herring Gull 1 Little Egret on marshland behind H. Head Brief visit to New Forest (Hants) produced 2 Mammal lifers - Muntjac and Sika Deer! Also 2 Nuthatch, plenty of corvids and hirundines again, juvenile Robin, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Blackbird, Greater Spotted Woodpecker and Buzzard. Train journey outward from Boston to Grantham spawned no fewer than 3 Buzzards! |
