Just back from tour down south (mainly Hants, Dorset and Devon) with family. Bird high-lights included: At least 13 cirl buntings in the Prawle Point area of South Devon. Very easy to see along the coastal footpath there. A few yellowhammers around there too. Quite a few hobby and peregrine sightings during the week. Over 25 med gulls seen including groups at Lepe Country Park, Hants and on The Fleet near Weymouth, Dorset. Other wildlife high-lights included several new moths: Jersey Tiger, a real stunner at Prawle Point, scorched carpet and rosy footman. Southern damselfly, small red-eyed damselfly, golden-ringed dragonfly, great green bush-cricket and silver-washed fritillary also noted. A day-trip to Brownsea Island resulted in 2 red squirrel sightings and several sika deer. Cheers Brian |
