Long weekend tour of Lancs, W Yorks and Cumbria with family 14-16 Feb 2010 High-lights included up to 20,000 starlings coming into reedbed roost at Leighton Moss, red kite low over car roof near Blubberhouses and a flock of 11 crossbills at Tarn Hows. Seem to be quite a few crossbills about at the moment. I've had five flocks so far this year at different locations. Other birds on trip included peregrines, ravens, dippers, kingfisher, goosanders and 40 red grouse. Also bumped into John Craven filiming for Countryfile at Arnside Knott in Lancs!
Cheers Brian
