Post subject:  25/8/10 - Rutland Water

Very noisy at the Egleton Reserve today with machinery clearing up after the bird fair.

Really low water levels around the reservoir, its starting to produce some good waders.

Highlights Today include:

5 Pandion haliatus, still present
Sparrowhawk x2
Kestrel x1
Common Buzzard x5
Yellow Wagtail x12 (on the dam wall)
Greenshank x12
Goldeneye x1
Teal x50
Wigeon x1
200 of each House/Sand Martin
Ruff x7
Green Sandpiper x5
Marsh Tit x1
Common Sandpiper x1
Red-legged Partridge x2
Snipe x1
Little Egret x4
Curlew x2

I thought Pandian haliatus related to Giant Panda's with bad breath! I look forward to your next posting, Richard when you use Linnaean Nomenclature for all species in the list.
