This was my first visit in nearly eighteen months and Eddie's in five and a half years!
The drive there was quite foggy so we were anticipating having a wasted journey, thankfully the fog had all but lifted when we got to the reserve. Only saw two birders all time we were there plus a work party. We arrived at midday and stayed till 15.40.The following are what we saw:
Marsh Harrier - 10
Kestrel - 3
Sprawk - 2
Barn Owl - 1 with prey
Pheasant - 3 + one black one
Blue Tit - 3
Teal - 18
Wigeon - 29
Mallard - 37 + 1 hybrid
Gadwall - 3 pair
Shoveler - 21 [15m 6f]
Common Snipe - 54
Coot - 3
Black-tailed Godwit - 1
Pink Feet - 460 [ 3 skeins over of 14,23 and 21 plus others nearby ]
Magpie - 3
Blackbird - 11
Stock Dove - 2
Lapwing - 118 over west
Golden Plover - 17 over east
Wood Pigeon - 4
Crow - 2
Robin - 1
Shelduck - 14
Reed Bunting - 1
Moorhen - 4
Tree Spugs - 7
Redwing - 3

Although the weather wasn't great it wasn't as cold as in mid-week and we enjoyed the fresh air.
Kind regards
