Lyveden New Bield (National Trust site near Oundle)
and nearby Lady Wood
2 July 2011
Red Kite 3
Spotted Flycatcher 2
Nuthatch 2
Treecreeper 2
Jay 1

16 butterfly species including:
Purple emperor 5 (including a very photogenic male)
White admiral 4
Purple hairstreak 1

Tried Glapthorn on way back for black hairstreak but too late in day really.

Hi Brian,

We were out the same day,just over the border in Cambridgeshire at Bedford Perlieus NNR and had several goodies which included male Honey Buzzard,Crossbill,Silver-washed and Dark-green Frit's and several White-letter Hairstreak.We later visited Fairmyn and Lady Wood and saw similar species to you which included 5 Purple Emp,White-letter Hairstreak,White Admiral,Red Kite etc.
