Post subject:  RUTLAND- OSPREY and RED KITES

Stopping in a very good B and B in Lyddington for 3 nights, we made these birds our target.
Lyndon NR for the Ospreys with 3 young, from theWaterscrape Hide and the Shallow Water Hides we enjoyed watching the family eating, flying and even having a bath.
The warden told us the adults will be leaving shortly, leaving the young to fend for themselves.
Stoke Dry at the North end of Eyebrook Res. Gave us good views of Ospreys catching fish and flying off with the catch, even the anglers in their boats stood up to see the displays, we were greedy of course and returned at intervals, never failing to see them.
On one occaision 2 Red Kites drifted over a added bonus.
In the area around the village of Bulwick we started our search for the Red Kites, our best view were 8, but on one occaision we had 4 together only 200 yards away.
We did of course see many other birds, but these were our highlights.
