Post subject:  Northumberland coast 25/9/05

Newbiggin-Cresswell pond/beach-east chevington (in 4 hours)
Great skua
common scoter
sooty shearwater
guillemot.....(black race seen off whitley bay)
5 ruff with white heads,yellow to orange legs!left a few people scratching their heads!
2 herds of up to 80 pinkfoot
barnacles over chevington
black throated divers in cresswell bay
eider still with distinct feathering
black redstart
peregrine
pairs of kestrel...juveniles
greenshank
only 3 roseate tern;locals say breeding and feeding was very successful this season and feel the birds left early.
sandwich tern
juvenile slavonian grebe
red breasted merganser
pintail,more duck than drake
30 whimbrel
3 sanderling
could have been better but sunderland won
