After reading several posts by our own Chris Grimshaw enthusing about the site, I thought I'd have a Bank Holiday jaunt to Padley Gorge. I probably chose the wrong day as it was crazy busy, but nonetheless I found some quiet spots in this beautiful location and had a rewarding few hours. Highlights were:-
Wood Warbler Common Redstart Pied Flycatcher Spotted Flycatcher Ring Ouzel Tree Pipit Cuckoo Grey Wagtail Nuthatch Treecreeper Great Spotted Woodpecker
The sausage and bacon butty at the Grindleford Café wasn't bad either. Will definitely visit again sometime, although will probably choose a day when the kids are at school!
