After reading several posts by our own Chris Grimshaw enthusing about the site, I thought I'd have a Bank Holiday jaunt to Padley Gorge. I probably chose the wrong day as it was crazy busy, but nonetheless I found some quiet spots in this beautiful location and had a rewarding few hours. Highlights were:-

Wood Warbler
Common Redstart
Pied Flycatcher
Spotted Flycatcher
Ring Ouzel
Tree Pipit
Cuckoo
Grey Wagtail
Nuthatch
Treecreeper
Great Spotted Woodpecker

The sausage and bacon butty at the Grindleford Café wasn't bad either. Will definitely visit again sometime, although will probably choose a day when the kids are at school!

Chris Grimshaw and I made our annual journey to Padley Gorge today.

List very similar to Daniel's, but no sight of the Wood Warbler, Grey Wag.

Plenty of Meadow Pipit at the top end along with a Tree Pipit. Going a week or so later than usual meant views were not as good, and a lot quieter with birds paired and on the next or feeding chicks.

We then went on to Youlgreave/Youlgrave.

Beautiful riverside walk
Dipper 6 (5 adults, 1 juv)
Grey Wagtail 4 (2adult, 02 juv)
Grey Heron (locals seemed to be excited about this)
Mallard
Coot
Moorhen
Wren
Chiffchaff.
