Went up to the Lake District for a few days staying at Lodore Falls at the bottom of Derwentwater. On Thursday afternoon I took the camera and bins for a walk across the fields to the river, whilst waiting to get ready for dinner, where I saw Meadow Pipits, Pied Wagtails, Goosander and a Dipper, as well as gulls, ducks and a Heron. During a lull I decided to see if anyone was still climbing Cat Bells and on scanning the summit a Swift came into view. Watched it for some minutes over the lake but never saw a second. Guess it was a late youngster feeding up before departure. There had been lots of Swallow and House Martin at the head of the lake earlier in the afternoon.
