Well, what a productive day for me this was! I'm exhausted looking at it! I've included observations along the journey there and back, including a diversion to Fakenham, and it's like a mini bird-race all of its own, with some new sightings for me!

Species seen today:

HIGHLIGHTS:

1 BARN OWL (seen near Thornham) \:D/
1 Kestrel (seen near King's Lynn) \:D/
About 10 Goldfinch (Titchwell) \:D/

REST OF SIGHTINGS:

Many Carrion Crow
3 Jackdaw
Many Wood Pigeon
Many Collared Dove
Many Black-headed Gull
1 Common Gull (from Parrinder Hide - FIRST SIGHTING OF SPECIES)
2 Little Gull (from Parrinder Hide - FIRST SIGHTING OF SPECIES)
20 Pheasant (mainly in Norfolk)
5 Golden Pheasant (all at Titchwell - FIRST SIGHTING OF SPECIES)

Many House/Tree Sparrows (all over the place)
5 Blue Tits (Titchwell)
7 Great Tits (Titchwell)
4 Robins (Titchwell, 2 near Creake)
100 Sanderling (Titchwell Beach area)
200 Oystercatcher (Titchwell Beach)
10 Black-Tailed Godwit (Tidal Marsh area)

5 Avocet (from Parrinder Hide)
2 Dunlin (Titchwell Beach)
10 Turnstone (Titchwell Beach)
2 Curlew (Marshland to west of main path)
2 Grey Heron (field near Kirton, outward journey)
1 Little Egret (Marshland to west of path)
20 Shoveler (Tidal Marsh area - FIRST SIGHTING OF SPECIES)
5 Goldeneye (Freshwater Marsh area)
3 Teal (Freshwater Marsh)
20 Coot (various)
20 Wigeon (various)
1 Pintail (Freshwater Marsh)
15 Shelduck (from Parrinder Hide)
300 Brent Geese (flying over, and on Freshwater Marsh)
20 Pink-Footed Geese (Parrinder Hide - FIRST SIGHTING OF SPECIES)

Are any of you still awake?

On such a high after a brilliant day's birdwatching - definitely the BEST DAY'S birdwatching in my short career! Unbelievable.... raided the Visitor Centre shop for a lot of booty afterwards. Bought 3 DVDs, 2 books, 5 postcards, 10 RSPB pin badges, RSPB mug and genuinely felt deflated on the car journey home! Gibraltar Point next! :D

Golden Pheasants at Titchwell? Either escapes or you are mistaken as they don't occur at Titchwell and are now very rare and hard to see in Britain at the few remaining sites they are at.

cheers
Will

Best place to see Golden Pheasant is in the Wolverton triangle around the scissors X area early morning or evening they often walk along the side of the road. Map ref sheet 132 is square 6628.

Keith

On the Focalpoint bird reports for yesterday the 6th Feb I noticed Golden Pheasant, Wolverton triangle. Told you it was the best place to find them.
