Just returned from a fantastic week in Carmarthenshire. Lots of wildlife experience including a awesome few hours at Gigrin for the Red Kites :D
This proved our first real challenge to capture these fantastic birds, it was so hard to track them for photos, c200 birds around us at once, kites, buzzards, ravens etc. They were never still and the weather changed from bright to dull in seconds. We managed some reasonable shots which are on our blog(www.mandyandmick.blogspot.com) now (lots more pics will follow once I get the chance!). Would recommend a visit - a great experience.

We saw around 65 species of birds, including Goshawk, Peregrine, Rock Pipit, Ravens etc.

We stayed in the appropriately named "Birdwatch Cottage" which was in the sticks, we had feeders outside the window and were entertained constantly be Tits, Sparrows, Nuthatches, Wrens and Voles (feeding under the feeders-very cute!) Buzzards were around all the time, the woods next to the cottage full of treecreeper, woodpeckers, jays etc. Kingfisher and Dippers were on the salmon river at the bottom of our garden.

We were disappointed that the weather wasnt a bit better as we had hope d to go out on a sea trip to see birds, dolphins and seals but struck lucky on our last day as we visited New Quay and was thrilled to have a mother Bottle Nose Dolphin and her calf a few metres off the quay. followed by 4 more adults on view too :D :D
We had close encounters with Grey Seal too, 6 of them in a little cove we found, a joy to watch them swimming etc in natural surroundings.

All in all a great week of wildlife, relaxation and experiences.!! :D :D
