Further to a Birdguides report on 20 May, I went to the Collingham Pits New Workings NOTTS this afternoon. (Map Ref OS 121 SK 815627). The drake Garganey was showing very well (up to 5.45 at least). It was on the southern of the two pits, easily viewable from the central 'causeway', feeding in some shallow pools covered in dead, stunted bush growth, close to the 'causeway' bank.
plus incl.:
Gadwall
Shoveler
Tufted Duck
Shelduck
Teal
Grey Heron
Cormorant
Lapwing
Sand Martin (dozens)
Swallow
Swift
Reed Bunting

Regards,

Freddy
