Had a birding trip with my Derbyshire mates to the brecks area and central Norfolk, dull weather early morning but a scorching afternoon.
rspb lekanheath.
crane
7-8 hobby - no red foot
bittern in flight was very nice and close
2 golden orioles
3 green woodpeckers.
Afraid we had left before the great reed warbler was found but we were at the viewpoint but we never heard anything that sounded like great reed ( never mind you cannot get them all )
6 Stone Curlew at a nearby site, not weeting
wensum valley watchpoint
at least 5 /6 hobby
honey buzzard dark morph bird showed very well nice and close for a change,
several buzzards
red kite
also a further hobby on the way home near sutton bridge and 3 barn owls during the day at scattered locations.
a good days relaxing birding.
