For those who love dragonflies. Visited Thursley common last week hoping to see some new exciting dragonflies, the area is outstanding. 10+ downy emeralds on the moat pond, very flighty, did not see one land,( i saw them earlier in the week at Epping forest and they were flying whilst raining heavily). 2 brilliant emeralds amongst the heather and a golden ringed dragonfly many keeled skimmers also on the heather four spotted chasers everywhere and 4 broad bodied chasers 1 southern hawker and most of the common damselflies Next visit was to the New forest At Crockford bridge were many southern damselflies along with beautiful demoiselles. Keeled skimmers were on the heather moors and 2 golden ringed dragonflies amongst the gorse. also made a quick visit to Hurst castle and saw 4 glanville fritillaries. Had an excellent time and the weather was brilliant too.
