I decided to check on the reported Waxwing stake-out at Edwinstowe, NOTTS today (Sat). I found : c40 Waxwings feeding on rowan berries on Manvers Crescent late morning. Usual close approach possible. c1.00pm, I visited Rufford Abbey (only 2 miles from Edwinstowe) and was pleased to find : Hawfinch - 1 or 2 still around the Car Park perched high in tall trees giving good views (9 had been reported much earlier in the day.) plus incl. Great-spotted Woodpecker Redwing Mistle Thrush Goldfinch Greenfinch.
Regards,
Freddy
