Just returned from a weekend in Lancs. Atrocious weather!! Mainly went for the Red Squirrels again at Formby but was dismayed to find they have all but been wiped out by squirrel pox. Only a year ago we went there and spent a magical time with them, this time not one :( It is very sad. We then went on to Martin Mere to enjoy the spectacle of the Whoopers. Also good numbers of Pintail and Ruff. As the weather dreadful on Sunday we headed on to East Yorks, firstly to Hessle/Hull to look for Waxwing (no luck!) then to East Park, 14+ Goosander there at mo. Garganey and Red Crested Pochard reported but we didnt see them. Finished off Sunday eve with short visit to Worlaby - 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Ringtail Harrier, 3 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Merlin and 3 Barnies :D

Mandy
I was also at Martin Mere last weekend (Sunday). The sight of over 1500 whoopers coming to feed on grain certainly was impressive. Also had peregrine, buzzard and barn owl there.
Cheers
Brian
