I had a bit of a surprise phone call from a non-birding friend from Norfolk today who said he had seen a Snowy Owl, I was well gutted I wasn't in a position to have a look myself but I have informed the relevant news services so hopefully one of the Norfolk birders can confirm the sighting.

Nick,
You need to alter your Subject Heading
from Possible Snowy Owl in Lincolnshire
to Possible Snowy Owl in Norfolk.

Freddy

I don't know if you are joking Freddy but my heading does say possible Snowy Owl in Norfolk or are you just being optimistic?

Nick,
Yes, it does now! When I viewed your post at c 6.45pm (7.45pm web-time) Thu 19 March, the subject heading was distinctly 'Possible Snowy Owl in Lincolnshire'. See your automatically copied subject heading and you will see 'Lincolnshire'. If you didn't edit it, then presumably the Administration did (without saying so). Anyway, for my own records, I've now photocopied the whole thread incl 'Lincolnshire' in my 19 March post before that gets changed!

Regards,

Freddy

Nick,
Well, the (reported) Snowy Owl hasn't been relocated in Norfolk today and the Cornwall bird wasn't reported yesterday or today (?the same bird). Lincolnshire (Grainthorpe Haven - again?) could be an inviting overland route staging area if it's, presumably, heading North.
You never know!

Freddy

You never know Freddy, its not the sort of bird you would imagine would be overlooked to easily. Although the 1990-1991 Lincolnshire bird headed South to the North Norfolk coast when it departed Lincolnshire, which is where I connected with it, although you would assume it then headed North again at some point.

If anybody hears any more confirmed sightings of the Snowy Owl, can they drop me a PM with its whereabouts?
