On way back from Leeds decided to check out In Focus at Denby Dale, an interesting place, and bought two lenses for the Spacemaster. It would have been helpful while testing the bins and scopes for a few birds to look at, had to make do with trees and buildings. Noticed a single Dunnock next to car as I was leaving. Birds seen just outside the town were 2 Curlew and a single Peregrine.

Came the scenic way back home and saw next to no birds until reaching Fishlake which fared little better. Stopped at the small bridge crossing the River Don I believe, very busy it was as well. While having a snack noticed a Yellow Wagtail, two Swallow, single Cormorant, Kestrel and about five hundred Wood Pigeon.

I wrongly thought that coming back cross-country rather than the motorways would give me more birds to view. By the time I'd reached Thorne I'd had enough and joined the M18/M180 and spotted a couple of Kestrel on way home.

Regards

John
