Just back from a fabulous 19 day birding trip to Uganda with a total of 524 species seen. Some of the spectacular species seen include Shoebill (down to a few feet), Green-breasted Pitta, Black Bee-eater, Finfoot, White-backed Night Heron, White-spotted Flufftail and 15 of the Albertine Rift Endemics. The mammals on occasions stole the show especially the Gorillas which took an arduous 7.5 hours trekking (more like crashing) through the Bwindi Inpenetrable Forest which is situated on near vertical slopes. Other mammals seen include Chimps, Black & White Colobus + many other monkey's, Lion, Leopard, lots of Elephant, Hippos, Giraffe, Zebra and lots of antelopes.

Thanks go to Bird Uganda Safaris Ltd (www.birduganda.com) for the success of the trip and in particular to our guide Emmy who was excellent.

To see more details and photos of the trip log into our blog at normanbynature.blogspot.com

regards

Wayne
