The Lincolnshire Bird Club

Cliff Morrison ,Nige Lound,and I have recently returned from 3 weeks in North East India.
We flew with Emirates via Dubai to Calcutta, outbound on a new A380 very spacious and comfortable and good service , food ,and value.
We spent 3 days in parts of the very extensive Sunderbhans national park with its 27 species of mangroves spending the morning and 2nd part of the afternoon on a comforable 40foot boat and sleeping in purpose built accomodation on one of the 57 islands in this vast area
The remainder of the trip was in Arunachal Pradesh( 6 days) and the wonderful Mishmi hills 500 ft to 12000 ft again in a purpose built site in a remote location having travelled some rough roads and crossed the mighty Bramrahputra on a rickety wooden ferry. From here we returned to Assam and 2 days in Dibru Sakoa NP then on to 3 days in Kaziranga np and finishing in the nameri NP ( what a location ) with a couple of river rafting trips and getting close up to ibisbills,( the rafting experience on the large fast flowing river was well worth the cost at 12£ pp for 2 hours never mind the birds seen)
During the trip we saw many new bird species some rare including cacha wedge billed wren babbler, mishmi wren babbler , striped tit babbler, jerdons babbler,brown winged kingfisher,white winged wood duck,smoky warbler, wards trogon, black breasted parrotbill,4 species of forktail,sand lark, greater sandplover, small pratincole,sultan tit, grey bellied tesia, and in total 347,
bird species for the group, we also experienced some close up views of indian rhino, elephant and saltwater crocodile.
Our trip was organised with East India Birding and the the leader Sujan Chaterjee, and was very good value as well as a terrific experience. regards John.
