Post subject:  Italy
Just returned from a week-long break in Italy(5th-12th may).

We were based on the outskirts of Bologna, staying in Hotel Relais Bellaria. It was a break for the wife and I and so not just birding.

Birds of the sites visited are as follows:

Hotel Grounds:
Great-spotted Woodpecker, Common Starling, Common Swift, Barn Swallow, Great Tit, Cuckoo, Blackbird, Hooded Crow, Redstart, Woodpigeon, Long-tailed Tit, White Wagtail, Jay, Magpie, Green Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Blackcap, Serin, Sparrowhawk, Blue Tit, Hoopoe.

Bologna Town:
Feral Pigeon, Peregrine, Common Swift(hundreds).

Venice:
Common Swift(hundreds), Grey Heron, Little Egret, Yellow-legged Gull.

Tavullia/Coriano:
House Martin, Nightingale, Serin, Hobby.

We did make a special trip to the Po Delta, the sites covered are as follows:

Commachio Salt Lake:
Little Egret, Grey Heron, Great Cormorant, Shelduck, Mallard, Bee-eater, House Sparrow, Kestrel, Whiskered Tern, Yellow-legged Gull, Common Tern, Pheasant, Collared Dove, Black-headed Gull, Greater Flamingo(hundreds), Hen Harrier, Black-winged Stilt, Pygmy Cormorant, Slender-billed Gull, Montagues Harrier, Greenshank, Great White Egret, Grey Plover, Jackdaw, Buzzard, Turtle Dove.

Mandriole Observation Tower:
Coot, Great-crested Grebe, Great Cormorant, Pygmy Cormorant, Greater Flamingo, Mute Swan, Barn Swallow, Great White Egret, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Gadwall, Mallard, Little Grebe, Spoonbill, Yellow-legged Gull, Black-winged Stilt, Reed Warbler, Pochard, Squacco Heron, Greylag Goose, Black-headed Gull, Goldfinch, Shovelor, Moorhen.

Punta Alberete:
Golden Oriole, Little Egret, Blue Tit, Cattle Egret, Wood Warbler, Grey Heron, Cuckoo, Pergrine, Nightingale, Turtle Dove, Sedge Warbler, Coot, Gadwall, Purple Heron, Pygmy Cormorant, Great Cormorant, Pochard, Mallard, Great-spotted Woodpecker, Great-crested Grebe, Chaffinch.

Lido di Spina:
Slender-billed Gull, Yellow-legged Gull, Little Tern, Mediterranean Gull, Black-headed Gull, Great Cormorant, Grey Heron, Barn Swallow, Sanderling, Greenfinch.
