I have just returned from a week’s holiday at the Seaview Country Club Hotel, Port des Torrent, Ibiza which is situated at the western end of San Antonio bay.
Although this was a family holiday, I did manage a bit of birding around the vicinity of the hotel.
Numerous Yellow-legged Gull, Audouin’s Gull, Shag and a Crane were viewed from the hotel balcony as I sipped a glass of san miguel!
Around the vicinity of the hotel lots of Sardinian Warbler, a couple of Thekla lark and Whinchat were seen, together with a Common Sandpiper, Redstart, Grey Wagtail and Goldcrest also, Red-veined Darter and Ibiza Wall Lizard were plentiful.
I took a boat trip to Es Vedra, a small island off Ibiza, where Audouin’s Gull and Yellow-legged Gull were abundant. It’s always best to book these trips directly rather than through the tour company, this trip cost 18 euro per adult plus 1.25 euro each way bus fare to San Antonio but would have cost 54 euro per adult through the tour company.
Photos of some of the wildlife seen on the holiday are on my web site at
