Just back from a fantastic weeks relaxation in a quiet area of Southern Turkey. Not a birding holiday as such as we wanted to chill out but we hired a motorbike for a couple of days to explore the local ruins and wildlife. Bird life was somewhat limited but enjoyable all the same. Patara (ancient city) was a pleasure, Black Eared Wheatear, Little Egret, Crested Lark,Black Headed Bunting etc and some fantastic large Lizards. The mountain passes we explored produced Ruppels Warbler, Palm Dove, Rock Nuthatch, Cuckoo, etc. We also saw lots of Woodchat Shrike (very common), Little Owl, White Spectacled Bulbul, Alpine Swift and White Stork We had a House Martin nest on our balcony and watched the young being fed and fledging. . Wild Tortioise and Terrapin were abundant. A very relaxing week! Some pics will be on blog sometime this week when we get time to sort through them M&M |
