I have recently returned from a trip from San Diego to the Sea of Cortez on board the Searcher. We recorded about 200 species of birds and fourteen species of cetacean as well as a few pinnipeds. Highlights were Blue Whales, Huimpbacks under the boat and Killer Whales bow-riding! Some great birds too numeroous to mention but I can supply a list eventually to anyone interested and details of the trip.

In the meantime I have published a few pics at

HI John
Wow some really nice pics of the whales (and birds!) on your blog! We are going on a whalewatching holiday to the Azores in May, hope we get as up close and personal as you obviously did with the whales :D :D Looks like you had a great trip!

Good pictures, John. I'm delighted to see the Spotted Towhee managed to get ringed by the American banders!!
