Just returned from 2 weeks in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt with the Mrs. Not a full birding trip but I did manage to see 22 lifers. Most things in the area were relatively cheap, including the food and drink. I used the local taxis to get around and again these were very reasonable. It was sunny & hot every single day (no rain whatsoever!) & I found the local Egyptians to be very friendly. Highlights included such specialities as Western Reef Heron, Sooty Gull & White-eyed Gull. Other star birds were: Striated Heron Barbary Falcon Greater Sand Plover Spur-winged Plover Great Black-headed Gull Slender-billed Gull Lesser Crested Tern Pied Kingfisher Lichtensteins Sandgrouse Laughing Dove (far more common than Collared Dove and tame - often feeding at your feet!) Blue-cheeked Bee-eater Rock Martin Desert Lark Red-throated Pipit (in full summer plumage) Citrine Wagtail White-crowned Black Wheatear Isabelline Wheatear Tristram's Starling Scrub Warbler Eastern Bonelli's Warbler also seeing flocks of 25 Black Kites, 300 White Storks & good no's of migrating Steppe Buzzards was memorable. see my blog for a taste of what was on offer regards Chris |

Evening Richard, Believe me, it was very tempting to go birding each and every day, but I knew it would've cost me a relationship so I thought better of it Chris |
