Since 1995 I have seen a total of 238 different colour ringed Black-tailed Godwits on the Humber all with life histories; some are now getting on at 17 years of age+ and you sort of get attached to individual birds that you recognise annually; others present strange visitation patterns and this winter I found 2 birds that I had not seen on the Humber for over 10 years;
On the Feb 3rd I ventured down to Welney for a bit of photography and discovered on my images of the large flock of Black-tails two birds that I last saw at Pywipe in late December 2010 -- the move to the Washes in early spring is a well known phenomenon but it was nice to see old friends in new locations
