** Meet the Urban Birder in the wilds of the Lincolnshire coast **
Talk and book signing by David Lindo, 2.00pm-4.00pm, on Sunday 20 November at Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve.
The Urban Birder is David Lindo, a writer, broadcaster, speaker and bird guider. Brought up in North London, David excels at birding in an urban environment and now encourages everyone to discover the birdlife of our cities - that can be found in surprising abundance.
David says: "When birding in a city try to see the world as how a bird would see it. Ignore people, see buildings as craggy lumps of rock and imagine that the bush you are looking at is filled with food and on a remote headland. That is Urban Birding."
David will give a talk on 'The Urban Birder Adventures' and will be signing his new book 'The Urban Birder'. Tickets, £10 per person including refreshments, are available from Gibraltar Point - please call 01754 898057 option1 - payment by card should be made at the time of booking.
His book has been described as is an inspirational look at the birdlife in our cities, or more accurately, the author's personal journey of discovery involving encounters with racism, air rifle toting youths, girls, alcohol, music, finding urban wildlife oases and of course, birds. His story is entertaining and sometimes controversial, but the one guarantee is that the reader will be left feeling inspired enough to pick up a pair of binoculars and head to the nearest park.
Make a day of it: spend the morning birdwatching on the nature reserve, enjoy lunch in the award winning Point Café, then settle down and enjoy an entertaining afternoon with David Lindo.
