Folks ! lets not get our knickers in a twist, i did not give my opinion on the subject i only said i would not condemn him. In fact at more or less the exact spot on a previous sandilands posting i had a bonxie drag an auk species ( not little auk ) out of the tide line and dispatch the bird in very similar fashion.
That bird was such a mess i could not id the bird for sure (guillomot 90%) from 15 yds away. I did not interfere, but the method of dispatch was unsavory and brutal hence the understanding of compassion although futile of a fellow birder. Thats all really, just an innocent off the cuff comment.
