just as a matter of interest my name is also in that book where i was the 25 th ever visitor on page 2. when i came home from goa someone had written an article about the place in birding world.
I just saw an advert in the hotel called the feathers tour and a phone number, all a bit hair raising but i think it is all organised now, whereas i had 2 personnal guides for 3 days all the food i could eat, my washing done etc being the only birder at the place and when i settled my bill including picking up from the hotel and return i was asked for £40 if thats ok sir. thought i had died and gone to heaven what with being disturbed by the 06.30 hrs pitta running between the tents what a bind, no serious boys what a trip.

terry whalin :D :D

ps john sorry for putting this on your congrats page

Various photos of John's investiture on the Album now.

Just to point out that the photo of John actually getting his gong was taken by Cliff Morrison, not me.

Nick,
Thanks for putting the photo's on the Forum. There are a lot of people who, over the years, have contributed to Wildlife Conservation and recording but few who can match John's record. For those of you with, like me, failing eyesight, John is the young upstart between David Robinson and Ted Smith - a unique trio of OBE, MBE and CBE!!
