It is absolutely excellent. Well researched and full of interesting information and most readable. Enjoyed the chapter by Alex. Got my signed copy from Fairburn Ings the other week.

Hi Rog,

Don't think it was pre publication. I was at Fairburn on 4th August and they had ten signed copies. OK the warden was a friend of Russells and was obviously selling on his behalf. However if you look at Birdforums site some had copies on 31st July and Steve Lister got his on 1st August. Think there may be a backlog of orders, reading between the lines. However would be miffed if I had preordered.

It's worth waiting for as it really is an excellent book.

There were several stands with copies at the Bird Fair today.

Spoke to the author at the Bird Fair on Friday and he said Vol 2 should be out in the spring. Certainly wont be pre ordering it! Strange how those like you who have committed up front seem to have to wait. Also some stands were selling it for £2 cheaper.

Will certainly buy it though as I am really enjoying Vol 1 and it will be a constant source of reference as well as a fine read.

By pre-ordering you are ensuring that Russell has the funds to publish the second book and I got my original from Russell for the same price it was on sale at at the Birdfair. Russ isn't a huge publishing house with an enormous budget he's doing it out of a passion for birds and rarity finding. Give him some support and pre-order.
