Just seen this on the BBC Autumnwatch message board:

Quote:
I live in Lincolnshire near the coast and still have a family of house martins in the nest, mum and dad are still back wards and forwards feeding them, theres only two still, they havn't been out of the nest yet to try their wings, does any one else have house martins still and will they all make it to warmer climates, I do hope they will.

Very unusual...

Not that unusual. A pair were still feeding young in the nest at the water treatment works at Covenham at the end of last week.

Hi
Slightly different but I have swallows still on my property with three chicks still in the nest. This is their third brood this year. They are flexing their wings but have not flown yet. Will they make it I ask?
UpdateThis morning the 30th of September the Swallows have come out of the nest and are now flying, though Mum is still feeding them, and I was wrong about there being 3 there are in fact five!!! so thats 11 this year.
Managed to get a photo of three of them, they are now on the site.

Malcolm.
