There seems to be an unusually large number of Wheatears along the East coast this Spring. Someone counted 51 this morning at Burnham Overy in Norfolk. A person I met at Tetney today said that he saw about 40 Wheatears there on Sunday, I saw a group of 8 there today and then 8 more on the Wolds at Bigby Top this afternoon and many others have been reported from various parts of the county. I wonder if these are displaced continental birds rather than ones that had the UK as their destination when they started migration?
