I see that TF33 (Frampton Marsh and environs) has 71 confirmed breeding species on the BTO Atlas. Is that the top score in Lincs? What about the North of the county?

To date, TF18 has 72 confirmed breeding records. This area includes Market Rasen, Linwood Warren and parts of Willingham Forest.

The square in East Lincs with the most potential is TF26 which only has 59 confirmed at the moment but a further 42 as possibles and probables making a feasible total of 101.

TF 33 has the potential for 88 and TF 18, 79. So its an open goal for birders in TF26 (Kirkby Pits, Kirkby Moor, Moor Farm etc) to demonstrate its the best square in the county.

Re the north of the county you might think that TA02 which has Far Ings would be a top square. Shockingly there are only 42 confirmed breeding species in that square, which beats Mablethorpe by 1. It makes you wonder if people up there are too busy looking at Med Gulls to confirm whats breeding on their own patch?

At last I found 2 juvenile Tawny Owls in Dunsby Fen this evening. This brings my home patch of TF12 to 65 confirmed breeding species. Not bad for a bit of fenland with no coast, no woods and no lakes.

An agitated Garden Warbler with food in its beak in what passes for woodland around here (a 25 year olld belt of young trees) brings TF12 up to 66 confirmed breeding species.

After some sterling work by Peter Graves and Mike Badley in the Snipe Dales area, TF 36 now has 75 confirmed breeding species.

I've just had a look at the list for TF36. Its very impressive, and a comprehensive account of all species breeding in that 10km square. I'm sure you could get 2 more species though - Great -crested Grebes at Revesby reservoir and Nuthatch in the woods at Revesby.
