For the last week or so we have had a 2 small birds eating niger seed spilt from the feeders onto a bird table beneath. there is no other seed or food on this table.
The birds to me appear to be young robins completely still covered in their speckles.
Is it possible that robins will eat niger seed like this?

Could they be Redpoll?

Thanks Andrew, I don't think they are as I cannot see any red or the finch-like wing markings.
I can only see that they are young robins that have strangely taken a liking to niger seed as they still appear quite often.
