There have been two references on the Forum re dead birds (Heron/Curlews) found minus the legs. This afternoon I found a dead Moorhen at Walesby Moor on top of frozen snow. A closer look revealed that it had no legs but that they were still in frozen snow near the carcass! Perhaps that could be the answer to GPC's Curlews and Brian Headley's Grey Heron. |
