Hi,

The RSPB is helping to co-ordinate the annual national Beached Bird Survey in Lincs. It's the last weekend in February (although if you do a WeBS count you can do the survey on the WeBS date, which for the Wash is 20th February). The survey helps to keep track of bird populations using our coastal and marine areas and help identify occurances of oil spills, natural deaths etc. With the recent cold weather the results this year could be quite informative.

We are short of recorders for the Skegness to Chapel St Leonards and Sutton on Sea to Anderby Creek areas. All that is required is to walk a section of the strandline in these areas (it could be a mile or two in length) on this weekend, record any dead birds seen and report back. Nil returns are just as valuable as positive ones.

Please contact Claire Jay if you are willing to help;

claire.jay@rspb.org.uk

Thanks,

John

Hi John

I've signed up for the Sutton on Sea to Anderby Creek section. There are still quite a few common shorebirds missing from TF57 for winter atlas purposes so its a good opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, or even if I don't do that I may find some dead ones.

Anyone doing the Skeg to Chapel section may be able to add species for TF56 and TF57 but the dead ones don't count for atlas purposes!
