Having had Bullfinches calling in the garden for at least the last 6 weeks it was really no surprise when I came across the adults with at least 2 recently fledged juvs in a particularly thick, mixed hedge. They have been very secretive with regards to the activity that accompanies breeding, I never even noticed any food carrying! They are still around and still secretive.

Also on the subject of bullfinches, there was a bird at Rigsby Wood on 4th May this year with a wheezing call indicative of Northern Bullfinch - I did not get good views of this bird. Another bullfinch nearby was making the usual piping call.

Bullfinches are always very secretive when breeding but I too have had 2 fledged broods on my patch in the last 2 days.
