There is an area to the S of Louth with a diameter of approx 6km including Burwell Wood, Haugham, Ruckland, Oxcombe etc where there have been many raptor sightings over the last couple of years. I'm not discriminating here between reported and confirmed sightings but the list includes: White-tailed Eagle 2 Osprey Red Kite Black Kite 2 Marsh Harrier Hen Harrier Montagu's Harrier Common Buzzard Rough-legged Buzzard Honey Buzzard Sparrowhawk Goshawk Kestrel Hobby Peregrine I suppose that the recent interest in White-tailed Eagle has led to many other raptors being seen but there's no doubt also that this is a hotspot John |

Wow! It certainly is up there with Worlaby if not better. It also gives birders in that area and to the south of Lincs the option of not coming " up north" to Worlaby etc. Interesting reading. Regards John |

A very impressive list John, which certainly rivals my patch area.Since 2000 i have seen 3 Rough-legged Buzzard(Finding 2),Red Kite, multiple Ospreys,Peregrine,Merlin,Hen Harrier,Marsh Harrier,Hobby,Kestrel,Sparrowhawk,Common Buzzard, with others seeing Honey Buzzard and un-substantiated claims of Black Kite and Goshawk. There is plenty of scope for further additions such as White-tailed Eagle,Red-footed Falcon and dare i even dream,a Pallid Harrier, now that would be special!.
