The bird club has recieved a community grant scheme pack for the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park scheme.

Full details can be found at: http://microsites.lincolnshire.gov.uk/c ... ntry-park/

If anyone has any bright ideas regarding possible project that the LBC could suggest, please get in touch....

The North Sea Observatory at Huttoft sounds an interesting development but I hope it's better than the Round and Round House at Anderby Creek (Lookout viewpoint). See the newsletter.
I had a shock seeing my picture in the Community Grants Scheme leaflet, not a pretty sight.

Can I suggest building a Sand Martin/Kingfisher breeding bank somewhere, perhaps around Wolla Bank. Both species could breed in the country park area but the soil is generally clay and too difficult to excavate and the sandy dune area area too disturbed. I was interested to see Sand Martins breeding in dunes when I was making some observations of Scoters north of Aberdeen a couple of weeks ago.

I agree the North Sea Bird Observatory is a great idea but it needs some serious seawatching commitment. To give it we would need a basic weather proof hide, designed by birders for birders perhaps made from sleepers and positioned high on the dunes near the current art work.

That need not cost a lot of money, maybe built by volunteers from LBC and would provide a real birding service. There is even a cafe close by at Anderby Creek.

I am pleased to report that the Lincs Bird Club has been awarded a grant to install 6 barn owl boxes within the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park.

Full details will be reported on the LBC Website.

In the mean time, if any members, living local to the LCCP would like to become more involved in this project, then please contact me via the private message system or through my email address,

Regards

Andrew
