Just wondering if anyone knows if its a good year for lapwings, as there seems to be masses around Sloothby(East Lincs), with flocks flocks flying over N,S,E & W, at just about every minute of the day and into the night too. Also as a note there are also many flocks of Golden Plover doing the same. It all makes quite a spectacle.

Reminds me of the time my pal and I went to Old Moor Wetlands near Barnsley. On one of the islands were 3,000 Lapwings and 8,000 Golden Plover [ I didn't count them the wardens did] it was a sight to behold! Watching them get up every few minutes and fly around before settling again, WOW!

The only other time I've seen those numbers both were flying north over Blacktoft Sands.

Regards

John
