The hard weather and my policy of spending more money on food for the birds than on ourselves seems to be paying off. A Common Snipe probing in the snow was a new record for the garden today. In the last week I have observed 33 species of birds some in very good numbers.
Highlights:-
1 Common Snipe
1 Moorhen
1 Common Buzzard
1 Sparrowhawk
5 Redwings
19 Fieldfares
12 Blackbirds
36 Chaffinches
3 Siskins
1 Bullfinch
3 Tree Sparrows
3 Reed Buntings - all males.
