Some years ago Edmund Mackrill and i walked past an old hedgerow with adjacent strip of game cover and gamebird feeders near Welton le Marsh and saw a flock of c 300 yellowhammers
it was late winter when food is scarce, assume you are putting out various seed mix for birds John? regards John

In the atlas period from 2007 to 2011 in the 9, 10 km squares around Louth the max count was 3 separate flocks of around 120. The biggest single flock reported in the Louth square itself was 28.

Interestingly I was out on my bike yesterday and had my first singing Yellowhammers so I assume the winter flocks are starting to break down now as birds start to hold territories.
