The more i study records on here(over many years) the more Im convinced MSQ is off the beaten track/migratory passage/whatever,Messingham seems to just get very few numbers of passage birds, where as lincoln etc gets good numbers,me and David Johnson realised this a long time ago,and we came up with the Answer; That MSQ is slap bang in the middle of the river trent and the river Ancholme,if it were nearer either river,it would invariably get much more, very few raritys turn up at Msq compared to Alk flats and Barton, but when they do,they tend to be mega rare, due to completley displaced birds well off course, which could have turned up anywhere anyway!!,Sad but im afraid true.. In the last 15 year's it has attracted some of the rarest birds to be recorded in Lincolnshire,Green Heron and Yellow-nosed Albatross to name but a few, with lesser rareities such as male Little Bittern,Purple Heron etc. so come on Rog things arn't that bad, perhaps your expecting a bit too much? and it still is probably the most reliable site in the county for Osprey.Keep visiting that superb place and look at the bigger picture,if there are no birds about just look at what else is on offer. Ahem!!!!yep but Steve ive earned it!!!the amount of time ive put in over the years is phenomenal!!!,with very little to show for it(the birds you mentioned were found by people who hardly come here!!!parodoxically!),thou ive done great with Raptors,I feel your a little unfair,as you know i do look at plants insects also now and carry a camera around for that purpose.. Raptors include:Montys,r.l.buzzard,Goshawk,(oops!)etc etc. Regards, Rog. P>S. Steve,Maybe i should keep moanin",if its gonna produce!!!LOL!!!. |
